Air Source Heat Pumps in Bromley

MCS certified installs with the Boiler Upgrade Scheme handled for you

Air Source Heat Pumps

Aspie Plumbing & Heating Ltd is MCS certified under number APH-48289 and installs air source heat pumps across Bromley, Chislehurst, Bexley and Sevenoaks. Being MCS certified means we can process the Boiler Upgrade Scheme application on your behalf if your property is eligible. Pricing is quoted after a full heat loss survey, and all renewable work is carried out under the RECC consumer code.

An air source heat pump takes heat out of the outside air and moves it into your heating and hot water. It runs at a lower flow temperature than a boiler, so the system around it has to be designed properly rather than simply swapped over. That is the part most people get wrong, and it is the part Dan spends the most time on.

Every installation starts with a room-by-room heat loss survey. That tells us what the property actually needs, which radiators or underfloor circuits have to change, what size cylinder is required and which unit is the right fit. You get the numbers behind the recommendation, not just a price.

Aspie Plumbing & Heating Ltd is MCS certified under certificate number APH-48289. That certification is what allows us to process the Boiler Upgrade Scheme application for eligible customers, so the grant comes off your quote rather than being something you have to chase yourself. We will confirm eligibility before any work is agreed.

For all renewable technologies, including air source heat pumps, we adhere to the RECC rules. The Renewable Energy Consumer Code covers things like quotations, deposits, cancellation rights and how complaints are handled. You can read it in full at recc.org.uk and you are welcome to contact us for more information.

Frequently Asked Questions

Air Source Heat Pumps Questions

Are you MCS registered?

Yes. Our MCS certification number is APH-48289. We are able to process the application for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme for eligible customers, so the grant is deducted from your quote rather than being something you have to claim back yourself.

What is the Boiler Upgrade Scheme?

It is a government grant towards the cost of replacing a fossil fuel heating system with a heat pump. Only MCS certified installers can apply for it, and we handle the application on your behalf. We confirm whether your property is eligible before any work is agreed.

How much does a heat pump cost?

Heat pumps are quoted after a full heat loss survey, because the price depends on the size of unit, the cylinder, and how much of the existing system needs changing. Quoting a heat pump without that survey is how people end up with a system that does not heat the house.

Do I need new radiators for a heat pump?

Sometimes, but not always. A heat pump runs at a lower flow temperature than a boiler, so each radiator has to be big enough to give out the same heat at that lower temperature. The heat loss survey tells us room by room which ones need changing and which are already fine.

What is the RECC consumer code?

For all renewable technologies, including heat pumps, we adhere to the RECC rules. The Renewable Energy Consumer Code is approved by the Chartered Trading Standards Institute and covers quotations, deposits, cancellation and cooling-off rights and how complaints are handled. You can read it in full at recc.org.uk and you are welcome to contact us for more information.

Will a heat pump work with underfloor heating?

Very well. Underfloor heating runs at a low flow temperature by design, which is exactly what a heat pump wants, so the two together are usually the most efficient combination we can fit.
