Combi boiler installation in Bexley
Alpha combi, full system flush and new controls in a day
The Brief
A homeowner in Bexley got in touch about their boiler. The previous system had run its course, the hot water had become unpredictable and they wanted it replaced before the colder months rather than waiting for it to give up. The main thing they asked for was a tidy job and controls they could actually understand.
Dan looked at the property, checked the existing pipework, radiators and gas supply, and recommended an Alpha combi sized to the house. The work was carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer and notified to Building Control.
What We Did
Our work included:
- Survey and quote: The gas supply, flue route and existing radiators were checked before anything was ordered, so the boiler and the pipework sizing suited the house rather than being assumed.
- Removed the old boiler: Gas and water were isolated, the old appliance was disconnected and taken away, and the area was made ready for the new unit.
- Reworked the pipework in copper: New risers run in polished copper into the boiler, set out square and clipped properly so the connections stay accessible for future servicing.
- Full system flush and magnetic filter: The heating system was flushed to clear out debris from the old pipework, then a magnetic system filter was fitted to catch anything the system sheds from here on.
- Fitted the Alpha Evoke combi: The new boiler was hung, connected, filled and pressurised, with gas soundness and flue checks carried out before it was fired.
- Pump and mixing modules: Pre-insulated pump and mixing modules were fitted to the system wall, keeping the circuit neat and the heating temperature controlled separately from the boiler output.
- New controls, set up properly: The controls were fitted and commissioned with sensible temperatures and a schedule that matched how the household actually uses the heating, rather than left on the default settings.
- Handover and paperwork: Dan ran through the boiler and controls with the homeowner, handed over the documentation and registered the manufacturer warranty.
The Result
Heating and hot water back to a boiler the household can rely on, with the system cleaned out, protected by a filter and the controls set up so it runs at the right temperature. The old appliance and the guesswork went at the same time. Work started and finished the same day, with the property left clean.
Job Duration: One day from removal of the old boiler through to commissioning and handover.
